They are categorized into two main groups – Mbuna (the rock fish) and Haps (short for Haplochromines, which includes a variety of more docile fish) that are generally less territorial. These classifications are somewhat arbitrary, particularly since many of the Peacocks observed today are hybrids that combine the calm Aulonocara with the more aggressive mbuna.
