They come from South America and are a popular choice for managing algae, but older ones will need a diet richer in protein. It’s important to keep them in a peaceful aquarium away from species that nip fins so their long fins don’t get damaged. Offer them algae wafers and sinking wafers, as the algae in the tank may not be sufficient to keep them healthy and well-fed.
