Agassiz’s Corydora Agassiz’s Cory is a calm catfish that prefers to stay at the bottom of the tank and is a great addition to a mature community aquarium. Make sure to use soft sand as substrate to protect their sensitive barbels. Create some shady spots with bogwood and dense plants, and only keep them with small, peaceful tankmates like characins, cyprinids, anabantoids, or dwarf cichlids. Remember to do regular maintenance, including partial water changes, to keep these fish healthy. Corydoras can breathe air intestinally, so leave a small gap between the water surface and the tank cover for them to come up and take air. They may do this several times a day.
